4ZZZ Radio Times 2011
Online version here.
This year I wrote an article on haunted buildings (pg. 9). There’s also an excerpt from my interview with DZ Deathrays on pg 21.
You can pick up a paper copy of Radio Times from the station in Fortitude Valley.
Vibewire submission for “Love” – Waxing lyrical about Brisbane. Includes my brilliant nature photography.
Rave Magazine indie reviews
I irregularly contribute to Rave Magazine’s indie reviews column. At 150 words about bands you’ve like, totally never heard of mannnn, it’s a fun challenge. It’s a great way to discover new local bands too.
Laneous and the Family Yah – Scissors EP
Pensive Penguin – Life was Given to the Birds
Brittle – The Owls EP
The Dread Sky – Self-titled
Daylight Tremor – Somewhere Nowhere EP
Homeless Yellow – God vs Saturn
Matt Sonic – Revelator
The Riot – Demo
The Fak – Girl Dancing
Jack and the Giant Killers – Grow your Mind
1.1.1 – If not Now Then When?
Stephen Cummings – Tickety Boo
Shoe – Self-Titled

“It’s hard to ignore the way that Liam, Churv, Dave and Angus slam into their instruments like a car crash, occasionally writhing on the floor and bouncing off the walls in a fit of musical passion.”

Courier Mail articles
In my final year of uni I undertook a week-long internship with the Courier Mail’s online department. I was shouted at by Rockhampton police, argued with a Brisbane City Council media advisor over shopping trolley fines (?!), went to meetings, ate hot chips and wrote a few funny articles that ended up getting published.
It was an interesting week.
Shrinking sheep, rampaging walruses – blame climate change

* Featured on the main page of Courier Mail Online in Weird Stuff on July 6 2009*
“IT’S blamed for shrunken Scottish sheep, stampeding walruses, ruining Tiger Woods’ chances of a US Open win, and a Chinese rat plague – global warming is even more of a villain than you thought it was.”

Queensland’s Blackboard Jungle – a Google Map
To coincide with a story regarding a list released with the numbers of suspensions in Queensland state school, I marked schools on Courier Mail Google Map with over 200 suspensions.
It is linked to on the following Courier Mail stories about schools:
Government can do more on school violence
Toughest principal gets results on school violence
Caboolture principal Leonie Kearney lauded for zero tolerance

Bombs, guns smuggled into buildings expose US security flaws

Featured on the main page of Courier Mail Online in World on July 10 2009
“US homeland security guards have been found asleep, using a government computer to run a pornographic website and putting a baby through an X-ray machine, an embarrassing US congress agency report has revealed.
