Z-Grade Radio – hosted by Danielle, DJ Doivid and I. Up until recently, we hosted a Monday afternoon drivetime show specialising in offbeat news, skits, strange competitions and fantastic tunes.

AMRAP Queensland Music News – Danielle and I were contracted to produce a weekly music news bulletin – new releases, tours and music industry in the Sunshine State. It was available for community radio stations around Australia.

The Demented Surgeons of Journalizm – Fellow 4ZZZer Danny and I use our comedic and radio powers to poke fun at journalism, the woes of (un)employment, human centipedes, self-help, technology and our attempts to become rich and famous.

Blonde on Blonde’s Zara – Are You Entertained?/Friends in Danger tour


After winning a Triple J Unearthed competition and hanging out with their BFFs from Queens of the Stone Age, Blonde on Blonde embarked on a tour to promote their double single Are You Entertained?/Friends in Danger. I interviewed vocalist/keyboardist/tambourine-ist, Zara.


DZ Deathrays – Brutal Tapes EP tour


Brisbane duo DZ Deathrays had just returned from SXSW when I interviewed Shane, who was just about to go on a tour to promote their new EP. The tour involved a drinking competition.


Yeo – Bag-O-Items album



Funky Brisbane musician Yeo released Bag-o-Items in February. I interviewed him about song meanings, what it means to be a “bedroom producer” and how it all translates live.


Bosko from Bosko and Honey – Melbourne Ukelele Festival



Bosko and Honey are an adorable North Queenland husband-and-wife ukelele duo. They make YouTube videos of their Ukelele Safaris around Australia and the world. Bosko and Honey were playing at the Melbourne Ukelele Festival and at the Brisbane Arts Theatre for the showcase tour. I interviewed Bosko about what one can expect at a ukelele gig and the appeal of the tiny, cute instrument.


Jet Black Cat music
A new independent music store opened in Brisbane, specialising in vinyl records. I interviewed the owner, Shannon Logan, about how the shop got started and the comeback of the vinyl record.

Things Bogans Like blogs the interests of bogans and was recently released as a book. I interviewed one of the writers, Michael Jayfox, about the modern Australian bogan.

Hale St Bridge traffic delays



On Tuesday 19 May 2009, Lord Mayor Campbell Newman announced that construction of the Hale St Bridge (now Go-Between Bridge) will delay Coronation Drive traffic.

I spoke to David Bratchford from the Stop the Hale St Bridge Alliance and Chairman of Infrastructure Graham Quirk on the issue.

Australian Tamil Protest



In April 2009, the Australian Tamil community protested in Canberra to bring Kevin Rudd’s attention to the conflict in Sri Lanka between the Sri Lankan government and Tamil Tiger group. The protests made national news as a protester was hospitalised after going on hunger strike.

I interviewed Dr Sam Pari, who organised the protest, about what the protesters are hoping to achieve and a little bit of background on the Australian Tamil community.

Anti-bikie legislation



The Queensland State Government announced new laws to outlaw motorbike clubs on August 23, in response to recent inter-club violence.

Some of these laws include preventing members from associating with each other, working in the security industry or owning a liquor licence.

I spoke to Terry Walker from the United Motorcycle Council of Queensland about how these laws will affect motorbike club members.
